Last week we joined friend of 1875 Beef, Sadie Ford, for a mid-summer cookout up high on the McKenzie Pass.
Sadie is a mountain athlete, raises her own chickens, and serves the community of Albany, Oregon as a Paramedic/Firefighter. Quality food is essential to empowering her mountain ventures, and emboldens her throughout her service as a firefighter. From ocean side to atop the Central Oregon Cascades, you can find Sadie with a smile on her face and a witty joke queued up.
Boasting garden fresh veggies and two 1875 steaks, we captured the magic at Lava Camp Lake Campground in what can only be remembered as some of the best campin' grub we've ever seen!
"We love farm to table, and this entire meal was a farm to table creation - fresh squash from the backyard, local farmer's garden onion, and our Grass Fed, Grass Finished, steaks. Bonus? A few slices of local sourdough bread, toasted over the cast iron, and used for dippin' "
- Joelle, 1875 Beef
There is something uniquely special about enjoying a meal with a friend in the mountains, particularly when given the opportunity to break bread over a worn campsite table amidst food which was toiled over. It adds perspective, setting in mind the intention that comes with raising and growing quality food.
To all our summer adventures,
Cheers!
